Writer David Franzoni takes a stab at finding a historical basis for the King Arthur legend in this dazzling action tale. The History Channel, asks, "Did the greatest king who ever lived, actually live?" Historians disagree about everything in the Arthur legend.

This film is nearly free of magic and myth. Instead, Arthur (Clive Owen) is "Artorious," a Sarmatian Knight under the rule of the falling Roman Empire. The Saxon Tribes know the Romans are leaving a make an attempt to fill the vacuum left by Rome. Arthur unites with the Woads who are lead by Merlin (Stephen Dillane) to fight this invading horde and he and his comrades become legends.

This movie has many intense battle scenes. The women fight as fiercely as the men (see the picture of Keira Knightley covered in blood below). If you liked GLADIATOR, you will probably like this film. Superb action sequences, acting, direction, and music! I enjoyed this film very much.
