A heart-warming true-life tale of classic children's author Beatrix Potter (Renée Zellweger). Set in turn-of-the-century England, this biographic period-piece captures Miss Potter's childhood creation of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck and a menagerie of other anthropomorphic characters, and tells of her coming-of-age struggles to find both a publisher prepared to accept her illustrated manuscripts, and acceptance as a woman writer in stuffy Edwardian society. Beatrix's life changes when long-established family firm Frederick Warne & Company assigns its youngest son, Norman (Ewan McGregor), to handle her portfolio. Their shared passion for the project leads to a romantic relationship, a secret shared only with Millie (Emily Watson), Norman's sister and Beatrix's confidant. To the surprise of all involved, The Tale of Peter Rabbit is both a critical and commercial success, making Miss Potter independently wealthy. Her new-found success allows her to escape London and acquire a farm in the vicinity of her happy childhood holidays, the Lake District.
