The movie revolves around Chester Ripley (John Candy) who decides to take away his wife Connie Ripley (Stephanie Faracy) and his two sons Buck Ripley (Chris young) and Benny Ripley (Ian Giatti) for a outdoor vacation. Chester is very enthusiastic about this vacation unlike his wife and two sons who are not much exited. Chester plans different things for this vacation however all his plans goes in vain due to the unusual arrival of his wife’s sister Kate Craig (Annette Bening) along with his husband Roman Craig (Dan Aykroyd) and their two daughters Cara (Hilary Gordon) and Mara (Rebecca Gordon). Chester is not at all happy he is also not able to withstand that his children are more close to their uncle than him. In the course of the event Buck falls in love with a local girl Cammie (Lucy Deakins). Finally Chester decides to move back home and also learns that the motive of Roman’s arrival was to borrow money from him.
