Gloria Mundy (Goldie Hawn), a recent divorcee desperate to break out of her humdrum life as a San Francisco librarian, accepts a blind date with a mysterious stranger named Scotty. When he is murdered beside her at the movie theater, Gloria is drawn into a madcap world of espionage and intrigue that few around her believe. San Francisco Detective Tony Carlson (Chevy Chase) is assigned to protect Gloria when the threats on her start to escalate and the plots she imagines begin to become all too real, culminating with a crazy chase across the city and an assassination attempt on the Pope!
