Hannah Brown (Judy Garland) and Don Hewes (Fred Astaire) become an extremely successful dancing couple after Don’s former partner leaves him to pursue her own fortune and fame. When Brown and Hewes finally get their big break to be a part of a major singing and dancing production, Don has cold feet and backs out of the gig as his former partner is going to be part of it as well. Hannah believes that Don did this to prove his love to his former partner, but in fact Don is love with Hannah and as of yet does not know how to show her.
