Dark Passage is the story of Vincent Parry (Humphrey Bogart), a man convicted of murdering his wife and sentenced to serve time in the infamous San Quentin penitentiary. With the help of his friend Irene Jansen (Lauren Bacall), Parry is able to escape and then gets reconstructive plastic surgery to change his appearance. He and Irene reconvene and begin to investigate the mysterious case of Parry’s wife’s murder. Soon the San Francisco police learn of Parry’s escape and new identity, and then begin to pursue him actively. Time is running out on Parry, so and Irene must rapidly discover the identity of the true culprit or Parry will go back to prison forever.
