A Jamaican sprinter, Leon (Derice Bannock), gets disqualified from the Olympics due to an accident beyond his control and decides instead to compete in the bobsled race. Paired up with an ex-competitor in the sport, Irving Blitzer (John Candy), who was disgraced when he was caught cheating by putting weights in his sled, Leon sets out to win the race. Together, the unlikely pair finds Sanka (Doug E. Doug) and other Olympic hopefuls to join their team. Without a sponsor to finance them or many fans to cheer them on, the first Jamaican bobsled team travels to Canada to fulfill their dream.
