When Mitch Robbins (Billy Crystal) finds himself in the middle of a midlife crisis, he agrees to participate in a trip to a dude ranch with his good friends Ed (Bruno Kirby) and Phil (Daniel Stern). Their task there is to drive cattle from New Mexico to Colorado - a more serious challenge than they had hoped for. Led by a crotchety, highly-experienced old-timer cowboy, Curly (Jack Palance), the men set out on the adventure of their lives. Along the way they discover more a lot about the animals they are trying to move, but even more about each other.
