Biographical film about the life and times of Charles Chaplain (Robert Downey Jr.) The film is narrated by older Chaplain and follows Charlie's life in England as a child (Hugh Downer) and a teen (Thomas Bradford) all the way to his adult life in America. He explains the trial and tribulations Charlie goes through and his tumultuous marriage to Oona (Moira Kelly) Even though Charlie was an extraordinary filmmaker and actor, he was always haunted by a sense of loss. The film also stars Paul Rhys and Sydney Chaplin and Dan Akroyd as Mack Sennett.
