In the movie The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, an artist named Richard Nugent (Cary Grant) finds himself in a sticky situation involving Margaret and Susan Turner, two sisters of widely differing ages. Margaret Turner (Myrna Loy) is a judge, while Susan Turner (Shirley Temple) is a teenager who has developed a big crush on Nugent. Through a series of misunderstandings Judge Turner finds Richard half-dressed in his apartment in the company of the teenage Susan. In order to avoid going to jail for a crime he didn’t commit, Richard decides to go along with a scheme where he actually dates the young Susan in an attempt to discourage her infatuation for him.
