The story of Annie Oakley (Betty Hutton), legendary female sharpshooter in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. When Col. Buffalo Bill Cody (Louis Calhern) first hires the young shootist, she finds her chief competition to be the other trick shot artist in the show, Frank Butler (Howard Keel). But with the help of Col. Cody and the support of Chief Sitting Bull (J. Carrol Naish), what started out as a rivalry of firearms soon becomes a more romantic competition.
