Many lives are impacted by the events one night at Lincoln Airport. Mel Bakersfeld (Burt Lancaster) runs the airport. He keeps a tight ship and therefore is not there for his family the way he should be. His brother in law, Vernon Demerest (Dean Martin) is a pilot based out of Lincoln who is cheating on his wife with fellow employee Gwen Meighen (Jacqueline Bissett). Mel gets word that he may have to close the airport due to snow. However, he also has learned that there is a bomber on board Vernon and Gwen’s airplane named D. O. Guerrero (Van Heflin). Vernon, Mel, and Gwen will have their strength and priorities tested that night as they each work to prevent disaster.
