“Nine to Five” is the story of unhappy office workers Doralee Rhodes (Dolly Parton), Violet Newstead (Lili Tomlin), and Judy Bernly (Jane Fonda) who take revenge on their oppressive and slimy boss Franklin Hart (Dabney Coleman). Coleman cheats Violet out of ideas and promotions, spreads rumors that Doralee is having an affair with him and abuses the new and vulnerable Judy. All three women reach a level of outrage and over drinks, fantasize torturing and killing Hart in various ways. Doralee almost accidentally poisons him, but he knocks himself out before drinking it. Hart’s wife is on vacation alone, so they decide to kidnap him and imprison him in his mansion. While they try to decide how to keep him from turning them in they make radical improvements at work, and Violet learns Hart is embezzling from the company. Hart is freed when his wife arrives early and finds a corporate executive in the office, who gives him credit for all the work the women have done. He is rewarded by being sent to Brazil where he is seized by natives and never seen again. Violet gets his job, Judy gets married and Doralee becomes a country singer!
