Young West Point students Jeb Stuart (Errol Flynn) and George Armstrong Custer (Ronald Reagan) are sent by the U.S. Army to the Kansas Territory. Their task is to stop the campaign of abolitionist John Brown (Raymond Massey) before he triggers all out war between the states over slavery. The fight against Brown ultimately culminates with his raid in Harper's Ferry, where then Col. Robert E. Lee (Moroni Olsen) must lead the army against the anti-slavery rebellion.
