When Maria Grant (Claudia Cardinale), wife of Texas millionaire Joe Grant (Ralph Bellamy), falls into the hands of Mexican bandit Jesus Raza (Jack Palance), he hires soldier of fortune Bill Dolworth (Burt Lancaster), along with Henry 'Rico' Fardan (Lee Marvin), Jake Sharp (Woody Strode), and Hans Ehrengard (Robert Ryan) to get her back. But there is a problem when it turns out that Mrs. Grant wasn't kidnapped, but actually went willingly with Raza.
